Extra Curricular Activities

Extra-Curricular (usually after-school) Activities

Extra-Curricular activities, which usually take place after school from 3.15pm until 4.15pm, are part of our Curriculum for Enrichment.  We are committed to offering our children a wide range of extra-curricular activities.  These contribute to developing children’s

  • personal development;
  • Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development;
  • pursuit of interests, skills and talents outside the classroom;
  • commitment to a programme of activities;
  • involvement with children from other year groups, where applicable;
  • social skills, including working with children from other classes;
  • team work skills, including working together for a common goal and fair-play;
  • self-esteem, personal stamina and perseverance.

Charge to Parents

We charge £10.00 for a full 5-6 programme of activity which equates to £2.00 or less per session.  We charge the same for all activities, regardless of the cost to school (some programme leaders charge more than others and some activities run with few than 10 participants).

Range of Activities

We offer different programmes of extra-curricular activities during the school year for each age group, not included nursery.  The offering may change from one year to the next and some activities are repeated and are sustained throughout the year whereas others run for a period of only 5-6 weeks (usually a half-term period) so that children commit to those weeks and complete the full programme.  Our offering is also season-dependent.  We have found that sustaining activities all year round results in children sometimes losing interest/commitment and leaving or joining the group at different times which is not ideal for the planning of the activity or the children involved, particularly for sports and team activities.  Some activities are led by staff from the school and others are led by external staff, including sports coaches.

Examples of activities which may be offered during any one year might include:

  • Football (boys, girls and mixed)
  • Futsal
  • Rounders
  • Tag Rugby
  • High Intensity Interval Training
  • Dance
  • Hi-5 (mixed netball)
  • Cricket
  • Athletics
  • Allotment (February-October)
  • Multi-Skills (sport)
  • Percussion
  • Coding (Programming)
  • Music-Makers (reception)
  • Choir (usually all year round)
