I wanted to begin this week’s planning by saying a huge ‘Thank you!’ for all your effort in making home learning such fun.  Seeing the quality of the work posted on Seesaw has been so inspiring and has given me lots of new ideas too.  When the children come back to school we will be celebrating World Book Day together.  This week’s planning does have a focus on World Book Day and includes famous authors and illustrators talking to you about how they come up with the ideas for their books.  There’s even a book called ‘The Dinosaur that Pooped a Princess’.  I hope you have a fantastic week.

Hello everybody!  We hope you had a wonderful half term holiday and enjoyed having some free time.  We have a new book this week called ‘The Colour Monster’.  It is such a good book, as the monster changes colour depending on how he is feeling.  For our Zoom call this week, I am going to be playing you different kids of music to see if you can guess the emotions.  For our art activity, we have a real author and illustrator, showing us how to draw a monster.  Looking at how good the books you have made are, I wonder if one day, you might be an author too? Remember also that your reading books are available on Oxford Owl and Big Cat (links above). We aim for children to read a Yellow band book independently by the end of reception so a good daily reading routine is key to helping your child achieve.

Hello everybody!  Welcome to week 6 of home learning. We celebrate Chinese New Year on Friday and 2021 is the Year of the Ox.  There are some great videos and stories on this week’s plan to help you enjoy learning more about the festival.  The work posted on Seesaw this week has been wonderful and it is lovely to hear how much you are enjoying the activities.  Remember that your reading books are available on Oxford Owl and Big Cat (links on home learning page). For Zoom this week we are going to read ‘The Tiger Who Came for Tea’ so we can have a pretend (or maybe a real) tea party.  Don’t forget to bring a teddy/animal so they can eat all of the food at the party.

Hello everybody!  Welcome to week 5 of home learning.  As always, in reception our key focus is learning to read and write.  These skills are particularly challenging for children in early years and this is why maintaining a good routine of reading and writing each day is hugely important. Use the Big Cats and Oxford Owl Reading scheme (passwords have been included in your email) to access a whole library of books.  It was lovely to see so many of you on our Zoom call last Thursday.  For this week can you bring a piece of work that you are particularly proud of, so you can show all your friends, and we can give you a huge clap.  Take care and have a lovely week learning.

Hello everybody!  Welcome to week 3 of home learning.  Thank you so much for all the videos, photographs and messages on Seesaw.  It is great to know you are enjoying the activities and having fun whilst you are doing them.  The activities detailed below are just a guide and can be used however best fits with your family. Last term our class completed Phase 2 sounds so our phonics sessions have now moved on to reading and blending Phase 3 sounds.  If you feel your child needs a refresher of Phase 2, there are differentiated resources in your homework book and Phonics Play is also a great resource.  Thanks again for your continued support.  You are doing a great job!

Messages Happy New Year children.  I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and have had a lovely holiday with your families.  We are going to be doing our school work differently for the time being so I have been hunting for lots of fun activities to help you with your learning at home. The good news is that we have Seesaw in school so you can post pictures and let me know how you are getting on at home.  I can’t wait to see how you are doing.  We are also really lucky to have a great online library called Curriculum Visions, which is full of books for us to read.  I have found lots of books on nature as I know how much you enjoy playing outside.  Happy learning!
