Isle of Man Residential

The school offers its Year 6 children the opportunity to take part in a 5-day residential visit to the Isle of Man.  This residential has been in place since 2008 and has been enjoyed by over 200 past pupils.  The cost to parents is usually about £300 which can be paid over a year.



The visit to the Isle of Man has the following objectives:

  • learn about the history of the island, including its invaders and settlers
  • experience the unique features and famous landmarks of the island
  • learn about life on the island, now and in the past
  • learn about a locality which differs greatly to that of Manchester
  • learn to be independent from parents
  • learn to work and live for a week as a team

The 5-day itinerary is usually as follows:

Day 1 : Monday

  • Arrival at school at 8.00am
  • Depart for Liverpool at 8.30am
  • Arrive Liverpool at 10.00am and check in for ferry journey
  • 11.15am : Sailing from Liverpool to Douglas (2.5 hours)
  • 1.45pm : Arrive Douglas Sea Port and make way to hotel
  • Afternoon Walk and Beach activities
Day 2 : Tuesday

  • Cregneash Village
  • The Sound and The Calf of man (Seal spotting)
  • Peel Castle
  • Curraghs Wildlife Park
Day 3 : Wednesday

  • Mooragh Park (Raft building)
Day 4 : Thursday

  • Steam Train (Ballasalla – Castletown)

  • Evening / beach activities
Day 5 : Friday

  • Manx Museum (Douglas)
  • Douglas shopping
  • 3.00pm : Sailing from Douglas to Liverpool (2.5 hours)
  • 5.30pm : Arrive Liverpool
  • Coach transfer from Liverpool to school
  • 8.00pm : Arrive school
