Messages Hi everyone! Hoping you are all happy and well.  This week’s learning plan is taking a closer look at how we take care of ourselves, particularly through lockdown when we might do be able to all the things we usually like to do.  We will be learning about ways to stay healthy and also ways to stay happy.  We will also be learning about rainbows and why they are such an important symbol to many people.  Mrs Singh

Messages Hi everyone! Hoping you are all happy and well.  To put everyone’s mind at rest, this week’s planning links home and school learning wherever possible.  For those of you home schooling it will be lovely to see your posts on seesaw.  We are going to continue making mini books each week following a theme that the children have shown interest in.  This week’s learning will focus on ‘Space’ as lots of the children have been talking about the SpaceX Launch.  Mrs Singh

Well done on another fantastic week of home learning.  Your parents have been telling me how well you are doing with your reading and that many of you have been working your way through the book bands.  On this week’s timetable I have included some longer texts which include lots of our reception ‘tricky words’.  It is a really good idea to make flash cards with any phase 3 words you are still unsure of.  Then you can play games like ‘beat the clock’ or ‘glow in the dark spellings’.  Mrs Singh

Thank you so much for all your wonderful pictures on Seesaw.  Sitting down ad reading all of your message is the highlight of my week.  I am also really proud of all the writing you are doing.  Writing in sentences using your spellings and neat handwriting is the hardest target for reception to achieve and you are doing a fantastic job of keeping this learning alive.  Have a wonderful week and see you soon.  Mrs Singh

Thank you so much for all your hard work in continuing home learning with your children.  It makes a massive difference to your child’s development and learning journey.  In reception, the key focus is children’s ability to write sentences with correct handwriting, using their phonics and ‘tricky words’.  Lots of the children have said how much they enjoyed making a fact page last week.  So to make writing fun, this week we are going to make your own ‘Animal Book’ to share with your friends back in school.  Mrs Singh

Thank you so much for all your photographs and posts on Seesaw.  I was so impressed to see how creative you got with last week’s maths activities. I even saw a repeated pattern made from balloon printing and potatoes. Going forward, there will only be a daily White Rose maths activity posted on the timetable, as parents who have fed back say they take 30-45mins (and are good fun).  If you do want to top up, there are plenty of maths (and phonics) games to play on Purple Mash.

Messages Thank you so much for doing such a fantastic job on your home learning. It has been wonderful seeing your posts on Seesaw and talking to you on the telephone.  It was good to know how much you are enjoying the Curriculum Visions library. As so many of you have seen ducklings on your daily walk, I have found a book called ‘It’s a Duckling’s Life’.  It has some beautiful pictures and facts to help you learn more about how they grow.

Messages I hope you enjoyed last week’s activities and our new topic ‘Nature on My Doorstep’.  This week we are going to read two new books, from our Curriculum Vision library, which teach us about the trees we see growing all around us and about the birds living in these trees.  Our maths activities are all based around one of our favourite class stories ‘Supertato’.  Please note that these activities are dated W/B 20th April 2020 on the White Rose website.  I think you’ll especially like the 2D shape activities with ‘Evil Pea’.  Have fun learning and I can’t wait to hear all all about it.
