Last day of isolation for us and I am so excited to see you all for our last day tomorrow!  I am looking forward to having lots of fun and playing lots of exciting games together!  For our last day of home learning I would like you to finish off our maths learning with a bit of work on temperature which is very fitting given the current temperature outside!  In English I would like you to think of a fun game we can play together as a class tomorrow and we can decide which ones we would like to try.  Don’t worry if it is a well known game – sometimes they are the best!  In history we will be concluding our Great Fire history topic by thinking about the reasons behind the fire spreading so quickly.  As an extra challenge I would also like you to compare this to firefighting today.  Would things be different if a fire started in a bakery today?
Finally, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the children, parents /grown ups for your support throughout what has been a very challenging year.  Your children have shown the most incredible resilience and hard work against all the odds and I have had a wonderful year getting to know them, and you.  Thank you for continuing to post work on Seesaw (I know it can be a pain!) but I have loved seeing all of their amazing skills.  Best of luck next year and have a wonderful summer break.  All the best, Mr. Adams

Hi Year 2, so it looks like our final week of the year will be finished at home so it’s a good job that we are now all experts in using Zoom!   I know that many of you were so excited to get stuck into our final topic of The Great Fire of London and rightly so, it’s one of my favourites too! For the remainder of this week we will be looking at the events of the fire and how we know so much about it using historical sources.   We started our final maths topic today: position and movement and will be looking at those quarter and half turns clockwise and anti-clockwise that I briefly mentioned in our last lesson.  We can use our knowledge of fractions and time to help with this, which we spoke about too!  In English I would like you prepare something for your new teacher so they can get to know you a little bit better! We can deliver them to Year 3 when we return!  Looking forward to seeing you all on our Zoom calls. Remember you can contact me through Seesaw and I look forward to seeing all of your hard work. Our final week of home learning has arrived!  We are all looking forward to having all of the children back in school next week!  For our last week we will be continuing with shape which we will finish when we are back in school.  In English we will be writing our own WANTED poster for the demon Ravanna using our adjectives and similes from last week to help us describe him.  Next week will be our final week on the Rama and Sita story, where we will be writing our own versions using our knowledge of the plot from our work at home and you get to show off all you have learned in school! We also have been challenged to a Times Table Rockstars tournament by Year3 – I know we can win so make sure we play this week!! All the best, Mr. Adams

Welcome back Year 2!  I hope that you had a lovely half term break and are ready for another week of learning!  This week we will be beginning a new Indian story all about Rama and Sita.  This is a very famous Hindu story, which celebrates the festival of light – I know that you will enjoy it!  In maths, we will be moving onto shape and we will be continuing to explore the little village of Chembakoli in geography and other aspects of Indian culture in Design Technology.  I cannot wait to see all of your hard work on Seesaw!  For Wednesday’s Zoom session, we will be playing a game of science bingo – so bring a pen and paper with you!  All the best, Mr. Adams

  • Welcome to the final week of this half term – we have finally made it! J  This week we will be completing our work on statistics ready to start our new topic of shape after half term.  We will also be finishing our work on the traditional Indian tale of “The Monkey’s Heart” where I would like you to write an extended piece in character as the crocodile persuading the monkey to come down off the tree – I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
  • Our home learning display is almost finished in school and I am so pleased with how it looks!  I will be taking a photograph of it when it is finished for you all to see on Seesaw!  Finally, have a wonderful break and I am looking forward to having us all back in school together!  Mr. Adams

Welcome to another week of home learning Year 2!  As I mentioned in our class Zoom session on Friday, I am just amazed every week by all of the hard work you are putting into your work – it really does make me a very proud teacher!  This week I have been treated to all of your amazing videos of you reading, waffles and ice-cream for breakfast as a treat (well done Harry!), walks in nature, piano playing, and all of the fantastic work you have also been completing!  Thank you so so much for all of your hard work!

Welcome to our week four of home learning!  I have loved seeing all of your wonderful pictures, videos and work you have been uploading to Seesaw.  Mrs. Whittle has been busy this week getting our home learning display ready, which I am hoping to be sharing with you very soon!  If you have yet to send a picture in of you ‘doing’ the work then please do try to so we have at least one picture of everyone on our wall!  This week we will be writing our own poetry based on Elephant Dance using the similes we created last week.  I will also be posting a couple of lesson videos to Seesaw and if you have anything extra you feel I could help with then please let me know! All the best, Mr. Adams

Welcome to our week three of home learning Year 2.  For another week, I have been amazed by all of the hard work, effort and participation you have shown in your studies – you should all be so proud!  Thank you to parents who have already uploaded ‘live pictures’ of their children working.  These will be printed and added to our home learning display in our corridor for the children to see when they return.  If you are yet to do so, do not worry but I would love to have at least one or two pictures of every child on display.  I have pre-recorded some of this week’s lessons and will be uploading these to Seesaw on the relevant day.  I hope you are all keeping well – have a great week!

  • Please note that the weekly plans for Years 1 – 6 are now two pages.  These gives the teacher a little more space to write more about each task for each day.
  • Some (but not all) of the resources you need have been provided in the printed packs which are available from collection from school.
  • Some printed materials are not uploaded to the website – you will need the printed version to complete the task.
  • PE with Joe (Wicks) starts again this week – Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays at 9.00am
  • When writing answers on a worksheet to be uploaded to SEESAW, please write clearly and in black or blue ink pen or with a dark pencil mark.  Please avoid pencil crayons and gel pens as they are not clear.

Welcome back! (Albeit slightly different to our usual correspondence!)  I hope that everyone has had a wonderful Christmas and New Year and managed to eat their way through as many Christmas treats as possible! With regards to school work moving forward, I am going to try and keep some elements of teaching similar to what the children are used to so we will be following the White Rose scheme of work for Mathematics, which also provides parents and children with videos to support their understanding before completing the work.  I suggest that the videos are watched by all before attempting the worksheet and feel free to pause and complete the task as the video is playing.  We will be starting our new topic of India next week where I have some wonderful texts for the children to explore in English!

Any questions please contact me through the e-mail y2teacher@northenden.manchester.sch.uk and I will aim to respond to e-mails during school hours.  Good luck and stay safe – let the children know I am missing them lots and look forward to seeing them all again!  Please upload any completed work or videos to SeeSaw – I look forward to seeing them all and I will be in touch regarding pre-recorded lessons and Zoom updates later this week!!
